Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air. Get immediate medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush with large volumes of water for at least 15 minutes.

Get medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Flush with large volumes of water for at least 15 minutes.

If irritation develops, get medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water fog, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen bromide and/or

bromine.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and personal

protective equipment to avoid skin and eye contact in fire

situations.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Prevent material from entering water (rivers, streams, storm

water collection areas). Collect material with an absorbent

(clay, saw dust etc) and remove contaminated soil. Dispose

of wastes at an approved chemical disposal facility in

compliance with current regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: Workers should wear a NIOSH/MSHA approved organic cartridge

respirator if vapour or misting occurs, chemical resistant

gloves and impervious complete body covering clothing are

needed when significant dermal contact is expected. Safety

glasses with side shields or chemical splash goggles should

be worn at all times. Local Exhaust ventilation should be

used to minimise vapour and misting. Mechanical ventilation

should be used for general area control. Workers should wash

thoroughly after handling.

Storage: Store upright in correctly labelled, sealed containers in a

cool. dry, well ventilated area.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 40 - 200 litre metal drums.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The test substance cannot be recovered from polyurethane

foam. However, post-production scrap can be recycled into

bonded foam products. Off-spec commercial product can

potentially be reworked into useable product depending on

the nature of the product.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Neutralisation with absorbents (organic or inorganic)

followed by incineration.

Spills or releases to soil should be collected and

contaminated soil removed. Due to the density and low water

solubility of the tet substance, spills to surface water

would tend to sink. Feasibility of removing material would

depend on site-specific circumstances.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Absorb onto an inert material and landfill in an approved

waste disposal facility.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incinceration should include treatment for acid gases.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: None

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance as notified will not enter the public domain.
