The substance has been tested for acute toxicity by oral and dermal application, for sub-acute toxicity by oral application and for irritant effects on skin and eyes and contact sensitization. Two tests for mutagenicity have been performed only in-vitro without relevance for toxicokinetics behaviour.
In the test for acute oral toxicity in rats, the substance was applied at a dose level of 2000 mg/kg body weight. No clinical signs of systemic toxicity were observed in the animals indicating no or only minimal resorption of the test substance at that dose levels.
Dermal application at the same dose levels did not lead to any systemic effects. Presumably, the substance was practically not resorbed by dermal application.
In a 28-day study the test item was applied to rats at dose levels of 0, 50, 200 and 1000 mg/kg body weight daily by gavage. The changes observed in the biochemistry, haematology and in the urinalysis as well as the changes in the organ weights of the kidneys and the discoloration of the lymphnodes and kidneys give rise to the assumption that intestinal resorption will occur. Based on the discoloration of the urine and on the effects observed in the kidneys, it can be assumed that parts of the resorbed substance are eliminated renally. The discoloration of the lymphnodes may lead to the assumption that the substance will also reach the lymphatic system.
No other indications to the toxicokinetic behaviour of the substance could be derived from any available study.
