The 21-day NOEC based on survival, growth and reproduction was ≥14.3 µg Pd L-1, the highest concentration tested.

Classification of poorly soluble metal substances is conducted by comparing the results from 7 and 28-day TD tests against acute and chronic environmental reference values (ERVs). For palladium substances the ERVs are based on ecotoxicity data for diamminedichloropalladium, as the most toxic palladium substance. A Daphnia magna reproduction study conducted with diamminedichloropalladium is available, carried out according to OECD guideline 211 (Simon 2014). A semi-static study was conducted, with test solutions renewed three times a week. Fresh and aged test solutions were analysed, and results were based on the time weighted average of mean measured initial and mean measured aged concentrations. In the period before renewal palladium concentrations in the test solutions decreased considerably, to 3 – 65% of nominal at the five highest test concentrations. The 21-day NOEC based on survival, growth and reproduction was ≥14.3 µg Pd L-1, the highest concentration tested.
