Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Results and discussion

Partition coefficient
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
> 6.2
Temp.:
24 °C
Remarks on result:
other: pH unknown
Details on results:
In the HPLC chromatograms of NIKKOL VC-IP, detected at 236 nm and recorded for 11 minutes, no test substance peak was observed. Because
during NOTOX Project 186222 ('Development and validation of an analytical method for NIKKOL VC-IP'), test substance was detected at 236 nm at a comparable concentration level but with a different mobile phase, it was concluded that if test substance had eluted from the column, it had been detected. From the four HPLC chromatograms of 2,4-DDT (i.e. a reference substance with known log Pow of 6.2), the retention time of 2,4-DDT wasdetermined to be 9.4 minutes (mean value). The temperature of the mobile phase was 24°C during the measurements. Comparing the results for
the test substance with the results for 2,4-DDT, it was concluded that the partition coefficient (n-octanol/water) of NIKKOL VC-IP is > 1.6 x 10^6
(log Pow > 6.2).

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The partition coefficient (n-octanol/water) of NIKKOL VC-IP is > 1.6x10^6 (log Pow > 6.2).
