Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 104 (Vapour Pressure Curve)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
This study has been performed in according to the OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals
No. 104 "Vapour Pressure Curve",
As mentioned in the OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No. 104 p. 2,5,6, several methods
are applicable to the entire range of vapour pressures. However, in the lowest range the
gas saturation method is recommended. We are using in this lowest vapour pressure range
the thermobalance method instead of the gas saturation method. This thermobalance method
has been developed in our laboratory (see B.F. Rordorf, A. Geoffroy, M. Szelagiewicz,
and E. Marti, "Vapour Pressure Methods for Industrial Applications" in Thermal Analysis,
Proc. 6th Int. Conf. Therm. Anal. Vol. I, ed. H,G. Wiedemann, Birkhauser, Basel, 1980, p. 313)
The validity of the thermobalance method was tested with benzoic acid. The agreement with
literature was extremely good (e.g, OECD Guideline No. 104, p. 4).
