First-aid measures
After inhalation:
Remove from exposure to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention.
After skin contact:
Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly. Immediately remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. Call a physician if adverse effects occur.
After eye contact:
Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water for at least 15 minutes with the eyelid held wide open. Get medical attention immediately.
After swallowing:
Wash out mouth with water provided person is conscious. Do NOT induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Call a physician.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing agents: for small fires, use media such as foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide. For large fires, use media such as foam, dry chemical, carbon dioxide or water spray.
Special hazards caused by the material, its products of combustion or resulting gases: emits toxic fumes under fire conditions.
Protective equipment: wear positive pressure self-containted breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.
Accidental release measures
Immediately contact emergency personnel. Keep unnecessary personnel away.
Person-related safety precautions: use suitable protective equipment. Scoop material and place in a suitable container. Use soap and water to clean the area, absorb with paper towel or other appropriate media. Water temperature should be below 45˚C due to iodine vaporization. Keep product out of drains, prevent entry to surface water, ground water and soil.
Handling and storage
Handling
Information for safe handling: avoid inhalation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Avoid prolonged or repeated exposure. Wash thoroughly after handling.
Storage- requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles: keep tightly closed. Store in a cool, dry place.
The substance is only used for a chemical process under strictly controlled conditions to produce another pharmaceutical intermediate.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Ventilation system:
Provide local exhaust ventilation. Ventilation equipment should be explosion-proof if explosive concentrations of dust or fumes are present.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Respiratory protection: required. Any self-contained breathing apparatus that has a full face-piece and is operated in a pressure-demand or other positive pressure mode.
Eye protection: required. Safety glasses, goggles, face shield or other full-face protection if potential exist for direct exposure. Maintain eye wash fountain and quick-drench facilities in work area.
Hand protection: required. Use chemical resistant, impervious gloves. Additional body garments should be used based upon the task being performed to avoid exposed skin surfaces. Appropriate techniques should be used to remove potentially contaminated clothing.
Stability and reactivity
Chemical stability: Stable
Incompatibilities with Other Materials: Strong oxidizing or reducing agents, strong acids or bases.
Hazardous Decomposition Products: Carbon oxides, hydrogen fluoride, hydrogen chloride and nitrogen oxides.
Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur.
Disposal considerations
Product:
There are no uniform EC Regulations for the disposal of chemicals or residues. Chemical residues generally count as special waste. The disposal of the latter is regulated in the EC member countries through corresponding laws and regulations. We recommend that you contact either the authorities in charge or approved waste disposal companies which will advise you on how to dispose of special waste.
Packaging:
Disposal in compliance with official regulations. Handle contaminated packaging in the same way as the substance itself. If not officially specified differently, non-contaminated packaging may be treated like household waste or recycled.
