Description of key information

A study was conducted to assess the effect of ALIMET on micro-organisms according to OECD guideline 209 in compliance with GLP. The test material was tested at concentrations of 10, 32, 100, 320 and 1000 mg/L(nominal)and the inoculum (microbial source) was activated sludge of a predominantly domestic sewage. Toxicity to micro-organisms was assessed by measuring the respiration rate.

The EC50 (3 hour) of alimet was calculated to be 11000 mg/L. A concentration of about 100 mg/L does not inhibit the respiration rate of the activated sludge in the same time period.
Under the test conditions, the EC50 (3 hour) of ALIMET was considered to be > 1000 mg/L.
