Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Remarks:
self reactivity
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

Flash point: 176°C

(Pensky-Martens closed-cup:

see CSR section 1.3. Physicochemical propeties)
Experience in handling showed that

Accelerator (PT 25E or PT 25E/2)

does not react with water or ignite

spontaneously when coming into

contact with air at normal temperatures.

The substance also lacks structural

alerts for these properties.

Accelerator (PT 25E or PT 25E/2)

has no pyrophoric properties and

is not highly flammable in contact with water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

In accordance with Section 1 of REACH Annex XI, testing was not required because experience in handling shows that the substance does not ignite spontaneously when coming into contact with air or water, and because of the absence of structural alerts. From this it was concluded that Accelerator (PT 25E or PT 25E/2) has no pyrophoric properties.

Based on structural features, the result of the melting/boiling DSC study and the auto-flammability study (see endpoints 4.2/4.3 and 4.12) and on experience in handling, Accelerator (PT 25E or PT 25E/2) is assumed to be not self-reactive.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Because the flash point is > 60°C classification as a flammable liquid according to the CLP Regulations (EC) No 1272/2008 is not necessary.

Based on the absence of structural alerts and based on experience in handling, Accelerator (PT 25E or PT 25E/2) does not have to be classified as a pyrophoric liquid or as a substance which in contact with water emit flammable gases under the CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.

Based on structural features, the result of the DSC study and the auto-flammability study and on experience in handling, Accelerator (PT 25E or PT 25E/2) does not have to be classified as a self-reactive substance under the CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
