Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

There are no reliable toxicity data for terrestrial organisms relating to reaction mass of Amines, coco alkyl and ß-Alanine, N-(2-carboxyethyl)-, N-coco alkyl derivs. and ß-Alanine, N-coco alkyl derivs. In accordance with REACH Regulation 1907/2006, Annex X, Column 2, studies of the effects on soil organisms need not be conducted if exposure assessment indicates no concern for exposure to environmental compartments. Therefore, equilibrium partitioning method has been applied to derive the PNEC soil and to assess the hazard to soil organisms. The substance does not indicate high adsorption (log Koc <3) and is not persistent nor very persistent (substance inherently biodegradable). All risk characterization ratios based on PNECsoil (screen) are under 1.0. Additionally, the partition coefficient of the test substance was determined in a reliable study (Butler2013); based on these data the log Kow was determined to be 2.51. Therefore, the test substance is considered to have low potential for absorption to soil and sediment. No further testing is proposed for terrestrial toxicity.
