Preliminary test results:

During the preliminary test, 0.1 mL of purified reagent water, when added carefully to 0.1024 g of test item, wholly dissolved into the acid. The resulting solution was clear and transparent. The mixture was observed to have no visible separation. The pH was tested using pH paper and was determined to be 0. Because there was no visible separation, the mixture was not observed after 24 hours.

Definitive test results:

The observations made in the definitive test are shown in the folloing table:

Since the test substance is miscible in water, observations were made after the sample was added. If the test substance was found to be soluble, more test material was added (the additional test substance was weighed and recorded in order to determine total weight of test substance added). The solution was then shaken for 10 minutes and found to have no undissolved test material.

The definitive test demonstrated the immediate and thorough dissolution of test item into water. Incremental additions of the test

material, for a total of 1.6040 g (1 mL) to 1.0 mL of purified reagent water, each dissolved, forming a clear homogenous solution.  The visual observations made during the preliminary and definitive test demonstrate that the test substance is freely miscible in purified reagent water. The results of this study demonstrate that test item completely dissolves in purified reagent water at a ratio of 1.6040 g of test item to 1.0 mL of purified reagent water.

Conclusions:
The water solubility of the test item at 20°C was >= 1.6040 g/ml. The test item is considered as soluble in water.
Executive summary:

The water solubility was determined by Method 105 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995 and GLP. No deviation from the Guidelines was observed during the test.

The solubility of a solid or liquid chemical can be defined as the maximum amount of the chemical (the solute) in solution at equilibrium with excess chemical present at specific conditions (temperature and atmospheric pressure). The water solubility of a substance is specified by the saturation mass concentration of the substance in water and is a function of temperature.

The visual observations made during the preliminary and definitive test demonstrate that the test item is freely miscible in water. The results of incremental additions of the test material to purified reagent water demonstrate that the test item completely dissolved in purified reagent water at a ratio of 1.6040 g of test item to 1.0 mL of purified reagent water. The test item is considered as soluble in water.

Description of key information

Experimental value of water solubility at 20°C: 1.6040 g/ml
Other data: soluble at 20°C (GESTIS), 734000mg/l at 25°C (SRC)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
1 604 g/L

20 °C

Additional information

The experimental determination of water solubility was performed by Method 105 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995 and GLP. No deviation from the Guidelines was observed during the test.

The water solubility of the test item was found to be >= 1.6040 g/ml at 20°C.

The supporting data are consistent with this result. The test item is considered soluble in water at 20°C.
