- Endpoint:
- auto-ignition temperature (liquids)
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- Experimental dates: 28 March to 01 April 2019
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study
- Remarks:
- The study was conducted according to an internationally recognised method, and under GLP. No deviation affected the quality of the study. The substance is adequately characterised. Therefore full validation applies.
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- BS-4056 (Method of test for ignition temperature of gases and vapours)
- Version / remarks:
- 1966
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.15 (Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases))
- Version / remarks:
- 2008
- GLP compliance:
- yes (incl. QA statement)
- Remarks:
- issued 01/08/2019
- Specific details on test material used for the study:
- Storage Conditions: Refrigerated (2 to 8°C), dark, in an amber glass bottle.
- Key result
- Auto-ignition temperature:
- 248 °C
- Atm. press.:
- >= 1 025 - <= 1 037 mBar
- Conclusions:
- This parameter/method is not relevant for classification; however the information is useful regarding process safety and potential additional fire hazard.
No particular hazard is anticipated in normal conditions of storage. - Executive summary:
The auto-ignition temperature of the substance was tested under GLP, according to BS 4056 standard (listed in EU A.15 guideline).
The test substance was injected into a heated flask, until the lowest temperature at which ignition occurs was determined, with different volumes.
The auto-ignition temperature of test item was found at 248°C at ca atmP.
Reference
The lowest auto-ignition temperature was observed as a yellow flame, for a test volume of 1000 μL, and a time-lag of 192 sec.
Description of key information
No particular hazard is anticipated in normal conditions of storage.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
- 248 °C
Additional information
A fully reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized BS/EU method and under GLP, is available.
It is considered as a key study, and the result is retained as key data.
This parameter is not relevant for classification, however the information is useful regarding process safety and potential additional fire hazard.
