Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

According to CLP regulation No. 1272/2008 when experimental data do not allow classification under the criteria dictate for environmental hazard but there are

nevertheless some grounds for concern related to poorly soluble substances and which

are not rapidly biodegraded, a “safety net” classification as Aquatic chronic 4 can be applied.

Exposure to the test item to invertebrates (Daphnia magna) for 48h and to algae for 72h resulted in a EL50 >100 mg/L and an ELr50 >100 mg/L, respectively.

However, exposure to algae resulted to a NOEC for growth rate of 32 mg/L.

Further, experimental data showed that the substance is not readily biodegradable, a log Pow between 1.7 and 6.2 and a low water solubility ranging between 0.85 and 225 mg/L.

As such, even though no acute toxicity has been measured in a short-term (acute) test, it remains likely that such non-rapidly degradable substance may exert chronic effects, particularly since such low degradability may lead to an extended exposure period in the aquatic environment.

Thus, according to CLP regulation No. 1272/2008, a classification for Aquatic chronic 4 has been applied as conservative approach.
