Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
appearance / physical state / colour
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
weight of evidence
Study period:
3 May 1994 to 15 Jul 1994
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: ASTM D 1535-89
GLP compliance:
yes
Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
solid
Key result
Form:
solid: particulate/powder
Colour:
White (Munsell colour N9.5/90.0%R) or Tan (Munsell colour 5Y 8.5/2)
Odour:
other: Slightly musty to no odour
Substance type:
organic

COLOR:

Three people made observations of each sample. The Munsell color consensus was "N9.5/90.0%R” for the test sample of the first batch and "5Y 8.5/2” for the test sample of the second batch. The descriptive color consensus was 'white” for the test sample of the first batch and "tan” for the second batch of the test substance.

PHYSICAL STATE:

The physical state consensus was "solid powder” for both batches of the test substance.

ODOUR:

The odor consensus was "slightly musty" for the first batch and "no odor" for the second batch of the test substance.

Conclusions:
The substance was determined to be a white or tan solid in the form of a powder. It's odour is in the range of slightly musty to not detectable.
Executive summary:

The physical state of the test substance has been visually assessed as a white (Munsell colour N9.5/90.0%R) or tan (Munsell colour 5Y 8.5/2), solid in the form of a powder, in accordance with the guideline ASTM D 1535-89 (colour). The odour ranged from slightly musty to not detectable.

Description of key information

Solid in the form of a powder, white (Munsell colour N9.5/90.0%R) or tan (Munsell colour 5Y 8.5/2), odour slighly musty to not noticeable, Gallacher 1994.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
solid
Form:
solid: particulate/powder
Colour:
white
Colour intensity:
dark

Additional information

The test substance shows to have white or tan colour at 21.6 °C. At this temperature, the physical state of the test substance has been visually assessed as a solid in the form of a powder and the odour was slightly musty to not noticeable.
