Details on results:
The saturation concentration of FAT 40549/A in n-octanol was determined to be < 0.1 mg/l (quantification limit) and the saturation concentration of FAT 40549/A in double destilled water was determined to be > 0.77 kg/l in the preliminary test.

The linearity of the analytical method for the determination of FAT 40549/A in double distilled water was proved in the concentration range from 1.04 to 520 μg/ml.

The linearity of the analytical method for the determination of the saturated solution of FAT 40549/A in n-octanol was proved in the concentration range from 0.1 to 1.08 μg/ml.

The partition coefficient of FAT 40546/A was estimated to be log Pow <-7 by calculation using the saturation concentration of FAT 40549/A in the pure solvents.

However, the results obtained by the preliminary test has shown that the expected logPow lies outside the range assessible by the flask shaking method. Therefore no further testing was performed.

In conclusion, the partition coefficient of FAT 40549/A was obtained to be log Pow =< -2.
Conclusions:
The partition coefficient of FAT 40'549/A was estimated to be log Pow = < -2 at 20 °C.
Executive summary:

The determination of the partition coefficient (n-octanol/water) of FAT 40549/A was performed according to the EEC directive 92/69, A.8 "Partition Coefficient" (1992) and the OECD guideline No. 107, "Partition coefficient (n-octanol/water)" (1981).

The saturation concentration of FAT 40'549/A in n-octanol was determined to be < 0.1 mg/l (quantification limit) and the saturation concentration of FAT 40'549/A in double destilled water was determined to be > 0.77 kg/l in the preliminary test.

The partition coefficient of FAT 40'549/A was estimated to be log Pow < -7 by calculation using the saturation concentration of FAT 40'549/A in the pure solvents.

However, the results obtained by the preliminary partitioning experiment has shown that the expected Log Pow lies outside the range accessible by the flask shaking method. Therefore no further testing was performed.

In conclusion, the partition coefficient of FAT 40'549/A was estimated to be log Pow = < -2 at 20 °C.
