Description of key information
For sodium hydrogen substituted amino acid solution, which is an industrial intermediate substance, two aquatic ecotoxicity test results are available and information on the inhibition of micro-organisms presenten in activated sludge and in river water.
The acute daphnia test with sodium hydrogen substituted amino acid solution was performed according to OECD 202 and GLP principles and showed as indicated no toxicity towards Daphnia magna in a 48 hour exposure period when tested up to a limit concentration of 100 mg a.i./L. Therefore, the 48h-EC50 was determined to exceed an analytically confirmed nominal concentration of 100 mg a.i./L.
The algae test with Sodium hydrogen substituted amino acid solution was performed according to OECD 201 and GLP principles and inhibited the growth of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. The 72 h-ErC50, and ErC10 were determined to be >100 mg a.i./L and 53 mg a.i./L (analytically confirmed nominal concentrations, based on biological significance), respectively.
The toxicity of sodium hydrogen substituted amino acid solution FC-C 13403 to activated sludge was determined according to OECD 209 under GLP conditions at a contact time of 3 hours, using various concentrations of the test substance. The EC50 of sodium hydrogen substituted amino acid solution FC-C 13403 for activated sludge after 3 hours contact time is 893.6 mg a.i./L with 95% confidence limits of 618.6 and 2236 mg a.i./L. The EC10 value was 162.5 mg a.i./L, respectively. Sodium hydrogen substituted amino acid solution FC-C 13403 is therefore considered not harmful to activated sludge.
