- Source and lot/batch No.of test material: A colorless liquid, Batch I

STABILITY AND STORAGE CONDITIONS OF TEST MATERIAL
- Storage condition of test material: Room temperature

Sampling and analysis

Analytical monitoring:
yes
Details on sampling:
- Sampling method: Samples were taken from all test concentrations (pooled replicates) on Day 0, before adding test organisms and at termination. BW2 for test material preparation and
stock solutions were also sampled during the study. All samples were collected in duplicate.

Test solutions

Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION (especially for difficult test substances)
- Method: The water soluble fraction of MRD-84-521 was prepared by combining approximately 16.75 ml of the test material with 2.5 liters of BW2 in a carboy. The mixture was then stirred for approximately 72 hours on a stirring platform. After the mixing period, the 100% WSF was drawn off through a sampling tube for use as the stock solution.

Test organisms

Test organisms (species):
Daphnia magna
Details on test organisms:
TEST ORGANISM
- Source: Cultured in environmental laboratory
- Age of parental stock (mean and range, SD): Trial 2 from 15 day old parents
Trial 3 from 13 day old parents
- Feeding during test: Not fed

ACCLIMATION
- Acclimation period: Acclimation by rearing
- Type and amount of food: Cultures of Daphnia were fed Selenastrum capricornutum and a trout chow mixture. Algae were cultured in the Aquatic Laboratory using modified ASM-1 media.

Results and discussion

Effect concentrations
Key result
Duration:
48 h
Dose descriptor:
LC50
Effect conc.:
> 100 other: % WAF
Nominal / measured:
nominal
Conc. based on:
test mat. (dissolved fraction)
Basis for effect:
mobility
Details on results:
There was insufficient mortality in Trial 2 to calculate an LC50 value. There was no mortality in Trial 3. No calculations were performed and no statistical analysis is presented.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
not specified
Conclusions:
Based on the estimated 48-h LC50 of >100% (WAF), the test material is not classified as acutely toxic to freshwater algae according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP).
Executive summary:

There was insufficient mortality in Trial 2 to calculate an LC50 value. There was no mortality in Trial 3. No calculations were performed and no statistical analysis is presented. Therefore a 48 -h LC50 of >100% (WAF) is considered.
