Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2011
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: according to EC A10 method (2008) - with GLP - no deviation
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Test procedure:
burning time (test type not further specified)
Remarks:
or specified in description of method (migrated information)
Remarks on result:
other: The test item has melted and formed a colorless limpid liquid that evaporates. Any ignition or spread.

Preliminary test

The test item was formed into an unbroken strip or powder train, approximately 250-mm long, 20-mm wide and 10-mm high on a non-combustible, non-porous and low heat-conducting base plate. A hot flame from a gas burner (minimum diameter 5 mm) was applied to one end of the powder train until ignition or for a maximum of 2 min. It was noted whether combustion propagates along 200 mm of the train within the 4-min test period.

- If the test item does not ignite and propagate combustion, either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 4-min test period, the test item is not considered as highly flammable and no further testing is performed.

- If the test item propagated burning over a 200-mm length of the powder train in less than 4 min a main test (burning rate test) is carried out.

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
The test DETU (1,3-diethyl-2-thiourea CAS 105-55-5) is not considered as highly flammable under our experimental conditions.
Executive summary:

According to an OECD A10 test made by DEFITRACE on DETU (1,3 -diethyl-2 -thiourea, CAS 105 -55 -5) :

The test item has melted and formed a colourless limpid liquid that evaporates. Any ignition or spread.

The test item was not considered as highly flammable under our experimental conditions.
