Description of key information

VELOFA monomer is not readily biodegradable, not bioaccumulating, and slightly soluble in water (WS: 38.7 mg/L). Due to its physicochemical properties, the substance will be present, remain, or distribute to, aqueous compartments, and will be degraded or metabolized there.

In an adsorption study according to OECD guideline 121 (Estimation of the Adsorption Coefficient (Koc ) on Soil and on Sewage Sludge using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)) and GLP a log Koc of 2.364 (at 25 °C) was estimated via HPLC, corresponding to a Koc of 231 (at 25 °C).

Biodegradation of the test item was assessed in a test according to the OECD guideline 301 B and GLP. The mean degradation rate of the test item was 52 % after 28 days not reaching the criterion for ready biodegradability (> 60 % in 28 days). The 10-day-window began on day 4, at its end, 44 % degradation were reached, fulfilling the criterion for the 10-d window.
