Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusions:
Waived because water solubility was found to be significantly below the limit of detection using the flask method (<0.30 mg/L). Another similar alkaryl sulfonic acid, calcium salt was tested for water solubility using a non standard method and found to be approximately 60 ppb.

Surface Tension

Justification For data Waiving (ECHA TGD ref 7.1.6)

In consideration for both the compositional description, the structural formula given, and the exceedingly poor water solubility demonstrated, it can be concluded that this substance 271-877-7 (EINECS) is not expected to be surface active, nor is it expected to reduce the surface tension of water in particular. There are no functional groups or other structural alerts present in any significant concentrations, which would indicate that this substance should behave as a Water/Octanol emulsifier or as a wetting agent in general. Moreover, the Hydrophilic-Lipophylic Balance (HLB) is less than 3, and this empirical evaluation is furthermore confirmed by long term handling experience.
