- Samples for possible analysis were taken from all test concentrations and the control according to the schedule below. In addition samples were taken from the acetone stocks.

Storage Samples were stored in a freezer until analysis.
At the end of the exposure period, the replicates were pooled at each concentration before sampling.

- Preparation of test solutions
The batch of PACM BADGE adduct tested was a clear light yellow solid UVCB substance. No correction was made for the purity/composition of the test item.
In order to obtain a homogeneous sample, the test item was heated for approximately 3.5-5.5 hours at 90ºC prior to the preparation of test solutions. After warming, the appearance of the test item changed from a clear light yellow solid to a clear viscous liquid.
First combined limit/range-finding test and full tests: Preparation of test solutions started with individually prepared loading rates ranging from 1.0 to 100 mg/L. The medium used was heated to 70°C before the test item was added. A 3-day period of magnetic stirring was applied to accelerate dissolution of the test item in medium. Thereafter, the aqueous Water Accommodated Fractions (WAFs) were filtered and used as test concentrations. The final test solutions were clear and colorless.
Second combined limit/range-finding test: stock solutions were prepared in acetone (100%, VWR France) at loading rates of 10, 100 and 1000 mg/L. An overnight period of magnetic stirring followed by a 13-minute period of ultrasonic waves was applied. The stock solutions were clear and colorless. Subsequently 100 µL of each stock was spiked at 1 liter of continuously stirred medium. The obtained solutions were clear and colorless.

Validity of batch Daphnids originated from a healthy stock, 2nd to 5th brood, showing no signs of stress such as mortality >20%, presence of males, ephippia or discoloured animals and there was no delay in the production of the first brood.

- Analysis of the samples taken at the start of the test showed measured concentrations of 0.43 and 0.41 mg/L in the solvent control and the limit concentration of 0.10 mg/L. The concentration measured in the limit group was four time higher than the nominal concentration and below the limit of quantification of the analytical method, thus the results were considered not reliable.
The concentration measured in the stock solution prepared at 1000 mg/L was at the level of nominal confirming proper preparation of test solutions. Based on this result, the effect parameters were expressed in terms of nominal concentrations. - Reference substance (positive control):
