Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Transformation/dissolution tests were performed on the substance to check the solubility under environmnetally relevant conditions. The results demonstrate the highly insoluble character of the substance: only 0.062% and 0.23 % of the Cd contained in the substance was solubilised after 7days and 28 days of testing, respectively.
Outotec (2010) has derived experimentally an average water solubility of 15 mg/l. However, this value is considered not relevant as >20% of the particles have a size < 45 µm and we cannot avoid the occurence of particles in the solution tested.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
1.48 µg/L
at the temperature of:
22 °C

Additional information

Average solubility of Cd, measured on 2 substance samples tested at 1mg/l loading according to OECD protocol "OECD Series on Testing and Assessment No. 29", was 0.40 and 1.475 µg Cd/l after 7days and 28 days of testing, respectively. This value is relevant for the solubility of the substance in the aquatic environment, and demonstrates the highly insoluble character of the substance, resulting in its lack of aquatic hazard.
