Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Eye contact

- rinse immediately with tap water for 10 minutes - open eyelids forcibly

Skin contact

- remove immediately contaminated clothes, wash affected skin with water and soap - do not use any solvents

Inhalation

- remove the casualty to fresh air and keep him/her calm

- in the event of symptoms get medical treatment

Note to physician

- treat symptomatically

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media

- water spray jet, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide

Specific hazards

- formation of toxic and corrosive combustion gases (sulfur oxides) possible

- elevated explosion hazard: observe a wide safety perimeter

- deflagration hazard

- violent decomposition after exposure to heat

- very high dust explosion hazard

- substance is hazardous for water: contain fire-fighting wastewater

Protection of fire-fighters

- precipitate gases/vapours/mists with water spray

- chemical incident emergency response unit with full protective equipment

- fight the fire only from a safe distance

Special method of fire-fighting

- cool endangered containers with water spray

- collect contaminated fire-fighting water separately, must not be discharged into the drains

Accidental release measures

Methods for cleaning up - collect spills with inert adsorbent and hand over to waste removal

Handling and storage

Handling

Technical measures

- processing in closed systems, if possible superposed by inert gas (e.g. nitrogen)

- local exhaust ventilation necessary

- take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging

- avoid dust formation; very high dust explosion hazard

- drying at temperatures as low as possible and under dependable inertisation

Suitable materials

- aluminium, enamel, glass, stainless steel

Storage

Packaging materials

- in small packaging units up to max. 50 kg

- tightly closing; material: e.g. fibredrums (lined with polyethylenebag)

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering Measures

-please see Handling and Storage above

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection

- in case of accidental release: protective mask with combination filter (e.g. ABEKP) or special filter (e.g. BEP) or respirator with independent air suply

Hand protection

- protective gloves (eg made of neoprene, nitrile or butyl rubber)

Eye protection

- safety glasses (i.e. in capsule-shaped frames)

General protective and hygiene measures

- instruction of employees mandatory

- cleanse skin thoroughly after work, apply skin cream

Stability and reactivity

Stability

- stable under the conditions mentioned in chapter 7

Conditions to avoid

- heat (violent exothermic decomposition)

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues

- observe local/national regulations regarding waste disposal

- incinerate in qualified installation with flue gas scrubbing
