Description of key information

N-butyl-4,4 -bis(tert-butylperoxy)valerate in isododecane at its maximum achievable solubility in test medium did not lead to immobilization of Daphnia magna in a 48 -hour static test according to OECD guideline 202 and GLP requirements.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The purpose of this study was to assess the acute toxicity of n-butyl-4,4 -bis(tert-butylperoxy)valerate in isododecane in the Cladoceran Daphnia magna STRAUS (clone 5) using a 48 -hour static test according to OECD guideline 202 and GLP requirements (L'Haridon, 2004). It was assumed that the limit of solubility of the test item in M4 water was reached in the limit test solution since the ratio between the loading rate used for its preparation (1000 mg/L) and the initial concentration measured in this solution (0.827 mg/L) was > 10.

Under the experimental conditions of this study, n-butyl-4,4 -bis(tert-butylperoxy)valerate in isododecane at its maximum achievable solubility on test medium dit not have any detectable effects on mobility of Daphnia magna. Therefore, 48 -hour EC50 was considered as > 1000 mg/L (initial loading rate) for Daphnia magna.

The study has been considered as valid.
