Description of key information
The acute toxicity of the test substance to Zebrafish (Danio rerio) was determined in a study (BASF SE, 2016) according to OECD 203 (1992) under GLP conditions. After 96 hours the LC50 was determined to be nominal greater than 6 mg/L.

The acute toxicity of the test substance to Zebrafish (Danio rerio) was determined in a study (BASF SE, 2016) according to OECD 203 (1992) under GLP conditions. This study encompassed one treatment group per concentration of the test item and one replicate for the blank control. Each group contained 7 individuals. The acute toxicity to unfed Zebrafish (Danio rerio) was determined in an aerated, semi-static, 96-hour test under 24 hours renewal conditions. Observations of mortalities and toxic symptoms were made at 6, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. In the interest of animal welfare, the concentrations for this study were selected based on the recommendations in OECD 126 on a threshold approach for acute fish toxicity. The initial test concentration was the lowest EC50 value derived from the results of acute Daphnia and algal growth studies with the test substance (i.e. the threshold concentration). If fish toxicity is above this level, a further fish test is not required since the environmental assessment will be based on the more sensitive species. Based on this reason the nominal concentrations used in this study were 0 (control) and 6 mg/L as limit concentration based on test substance mass without correction for purity. The measured concentration was determined to be 6.339 mg/L, (106 % of the nominal concentration). The sample was analyzed via HPLC. Since the measured concentrations of the test substance in the test solutions were within ± 20 % of the nominal concentrations, the effect concentration is expressed relative to the nominal concentration for the evaluation of the test substance. The volume of the test substance required for preparation of each nominal concentration was calculated from the density. The test treatments were prepared separately for each test vessel. The test solution was stirred vigorously on a magnetic plate for one to three days. All test treatments were visibly clear over the entire exposure period. There was no visible undissolved test substance and no other remarkable observations through the end of exposure (72 h). Temperature, oxygen content and pH-value were measured in each test vessel within 1 hour after start of exposure and after 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. The water pH, temperature and dissolved oxygen were within acceptable guideline specifications. After 96 hours the LC50 was determined to be nominal greater than 6 mg/L.
