Biodegradation in water: screening tests

Description of key information
The biodegradability of the test substance was examined in a "CO2 Evolution test" according to EU-Method C.5 (Hüls AG 1993) and Draft OECD-Guideline "301 B CO2 Evolution-Test" . CO2 was bound in aqueous NaOH solution and was measured at various timepoints over a period of 28 days. The test item was observed to be "not readily biodegradable" under the present test conditions (29% biodegradation within 28 days).

Although the test has to be classified as not readily biodegradable a significant degradation potential was observed.
