Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on expert judgement and QSAR dyes and EPI Suite predictions the substance is not readly biodegradable.

BOD5/COD = 0.04 mgO2/g
COD = 1353.6 mgO2/g
BOD5 = 54 mgO2/g

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
not biodegradable

Additional information

A prediction has been done on the most representative structure using QSAR dyes and EPI Suite tools. The substance is predicted not to be readily biodegradable.

No information about the "biodegradation in water" of the Target Substance is available. Nevertheless studies on a Similar Substance (Similar Substance 01) have been used in order to fulfill regulatory requirements. Details about the structural similarity between the two substances are reported in section 13.

According to ECHA Guidance 7b and to the CLP Regulation (EC) n. 1272/2008 where other data are not available, a BOD(5 days)/COD ratio ≥ 0,5 is considered as indicative of rapid degradation. For the test substance there are no other tests of readily biodegradation, therefore the BOD5/COD ratio was used for and additional indicative evaluation.

The test substance shows a BOD5/COD = 0.04, this value suggest a no rapid biodegradation.
