Results and discussion

Substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Remarks on result:
no reaction with water observed

Any other information on results incl. tables

From the structural formula, Linalyl Isobutyrate can possibly react with water in a hydrolysis reaction to form Linalol and Isobutyric acid. Both hydrolysis products are not gaseous. Linalyl Isobutyrate is therefore not expected to emit flammable gases in contact with water.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Contact of the substance with water or damp air will not lead to the development of dangerous amounts of gas or gases which may be highly flammable.
Executive summary:

From the structural formula, Linalyl Isobutyrate can possibly react with water in a hydrolysis reaction to form Linalol and Isobutyric acid. Both hydrolysis products are not gaseous. Linalyl Isobutyrate is therefore not expected to emit flammable gases in contact with water.

This is in line with the fact that during studies such as the determination of the water solubility (Linalyl Isobutyrate: Determination of General Physico-Chemical Properties, Harlan, Study Number 41400454) reaction of Linalyl Isobutyrate with water was observed in the analysis performed, but not emission of gases.

Therefore it can be concluded beyond reasonable doubt that the contact of the substance with water or damp air will not lead to the development of dangerous amounts of gas or gases which may be highly flammable.
