The bioaccumulation of the substance was assessed by using a validated QSAR model. No definite measured logPow is available for the substance (result >6.5). In the BCFBAF QSAR zinc salts are not recognised as salts, but e.g. Na, Li and K salts are recognised. When the program recognises a salt, the concomitant acid is modelled. The same approach is therefore taken for the zinc salt of DNNSA. The measured logPow value of the acid (>6.6) was taken as starting point. The BCF is 56.2 -70.8 L/kg ww.

As the BCF is less than 500 the substance is not considered to significantly bioaccumulate in aquatic species.

The high molecular weight (984.8) and the large molecular size (Dmax > 19 Angstroms) of the test substance also support its low bioaccumulation potential. Molecules of this size are generally considered to have low bioaccumulation potential due to their reduced uptake and low membrane permeability (Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.11: PBT Assessment).
