Results and discussion

Partition coefficient
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
< 0.3
Temp.:
25 °C
pH:
6
Remarks on result:
other: Log Pow value lower than the lowest reference substance value.
Details on results:
The dead time was calculated as 1.370 +/- 0.001 minutes with an RSD of 0.06%. The RSD of the retention times of all the reference items layed below 0.2%.

Using the correlation of log k/log Pow, the log pow of the two components of the test substance were calculated as -2.809 and 0.054. As the calculated log pow values are not within the range of the reference substances the corresponding log pow is stated as < 0.3 (log Pow of 2-butanone, the reference substance with the lowest Pow).

Variations in the retention times of the test and reference substance were small indicating a stable HPLC configuration. The correlation of log k/log pow was also acceptable with a r2 value of 0.9566.

The slight Tyndall effect of the test solution, which was used for the main test, is regarded as uncritical, as the solution was optically clear.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The partition coefficient was determined to be < 0.3 (Log Pow).
