Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A weight of evidence approach was used to determine the octanol/water partition coefficient.
Anon. (MSDS) (2009): 2.10
USA EPA (2010): 2.16
Hansch. C, Leo. A and Hoekman. D. (1995) and Hansch. C and Anderson. S.M. (1967): 2.10

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
2.1

Additional information

The logPow values for 1-bromopropane ranged from 2.10 - 2.16. No temperature values at which these measurements were recorded were stated for any of the results.

As the value stated in Hansch. C, Leo. A and Hoekman. D. (1995) and Hansch. C and Anderson. S.M. (1967) was obtained from an experimental result-based peer reviewed literature source, this is selected as the key value.

Kaneko T., et. al. (1997) was not a standard partition coefficient study and does not address the octanol/water partition coefficient endpoint. It does however include a variety of animal tissue/air and tissue/water partition coefficients and is therefore included as supporting information.
