Additional information

In 1987 BASF carried out a study on the acute effects of pentane-1,5 -diol on the green algae Desmodesmus subspicatus (formerly Scenedesmus subspicatus). The test according to German Industrial Standard DIN 38412 part 9 using a static procedure resulted in an EC50 after 72 hours >500 mg/l for the nominal concentrations. The effect was related to the cell density as it was common practice described in the guideline utilized in the year of the execution of the test.
