Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
SKIN CONTACT: Wash skin with soap and water for at least 15 minutes, or use a waterless handcleaner, whilst removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get immediate medical attention, if needed.
EYE CONTACT: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Then get immediate medical attention.
INGESTION: DO NOT induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs, keep head lower than hips to help prevent aspiration. Do not give anything by mouth to unconscious or convulsive person. Get medical attention, if needed.
Fire-fighting measures
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: regular dry powder, regular foam, carbon dioxide, water mist.
FIRE FIGHTING: Move container from fire area if it can be done without risk. Cool containers with water spray until well after the fire is out. Do not use water jets. Directly spraying water or foam onto hot burning product may cause frothing. Avoid inhalation of material or combustion by-products. Stay upwind and keep out of low areas. Treat contaminated water prior to discharge.
FIRE FIGHTING PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Full fire fighting apparel.
HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS:
Thermal decomposition or combustion products: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons
Accidental release measures
Collect spilled material in appropriate container for disposal. Keep out of water supplies and drains. Contact authorities in the event of pollution of soil and aquatic environment or discharge into drains. Remove contaminated soil. See Section 8 for personal protection information.
Handling and storage
HANDLING: Use only with adequate ventilation. Use methods to minimise dust. When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash exposed areas thoroughly with soap and water, or a waterless handcleaner, after skin contact and before eating, drinking, using tobacco products, or toilets.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Naphthalene:
50 mg/m3 (10 ml/m3) EC OEL
50 mg/m3 (10 ml/m3) AGS TRK peak (effective 1 Jan 2005 no longer valid per amendment)
DFG MAK (cutaneous absorption danger)
10 ppm (50 mg/m3) DANMARK
VENTILATION: Ensure adequate ventilation. If ventilation cannot reduce airborne concentrations below acceptable limits, appropriate respiratory protection should be used. Ventilation equipment should be explosionresistant if explosive concentrations of material are present. Ensure compliance with applicable exposure limits.
EYE PROTECTION: Wear appropriate splash resistant eye protection if contact is possible. Provide eye wash bottles in the immediate work area.
CLOTHING: Wear appropriate chemical resistant clothing. Contaminated clothing should be removed and laundered before reuse.
GLOVES: Wear appropriate chemical resistant gloves.
PROTECTIVE MATERIAL TYPES: polyethylene/ethylene vinyl alcohol laminate.
RESPIRATOR: Individuals at risk to inhalation of dust and vapours must use a respirator which conforms to EN140, with Type A2-P2 filter.
Stability and reactivity
CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Avoid heat, flames, sparks and other sources of ignition. Avoid contact with incompatible materials.
INCOMPATIBILITIES: oxidising materials
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION:
Thermal decomposition or combustion products: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons.
POLYMERISATION: Will not polymerise.
Disposal considerations
