Principles of method if other than guideline:
Determination of peroxides in water up to 12.5 µg of active oxygen. The method is suitable for peresters, hydroperoxides, diacylperoxides and peroxy bicarbonates. The peroxides react in acetic acid/chloroform medium with potassium iodide. The resulting colour of the iodine formed is measured at 410 nm by means of a spectrophotometer. Air oxygen is removed by purging with nitrogen. The detection limit is 0.4 µg of active oxygen.
