Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Analytical measurements can reveal that the impurity 4 -nonylphenol (CAS 104 -40 -5) is peresent in concentrations of > 0.1% depending on the analysed batch. This substance was included on the candidate list of substances of very high concern for Authorisation in 2012 (decision number ED/169/2012). However, based on the available data on CAS 126019 -82 -7 no adverse effects could be observed. The substance is used as additive in low concentrations. Therefore, the emissions of the substance are very low and estimated to be correspondingly lower (ca 1000 times) for this impurity. The risk for the environment is expected to be low.

Conclusion on classification

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008
The available experimental test data are reliable and suitable for classification purposes under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. The substance is not readily degradable and poorly soluble. However, the substance has a low bioaccumulation potential and no adverse effects were observed in chronic and acute aquatic studies in the solubility range. Therefore, the substance does not fulfill the criteria for classification as hazardous to the aquatic environment according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, as amended for the eighth time in Regulation (EU) No 2016/218.
