Isomaltulose greens consists primarily of the disaccharides isomaltulose and trehalulose, along with other sugars. It is readily biodegradable, as demonstrated by a new study conducted under GLP conditions in accordance with OECD Guideline 301E (Ready Biodegradation: Modified OECD Screening Test). After 28 days, 96.2% of the ismoltulose greens was biodegraded. Biodegradation began rapidly, with 70% biodegradation reached by day 4 of the study.

Isomaltulose greens has a very low log Kow of less than -3.8 at 20 degrees C and thus would not be expected to bioaccumulate in aquatic or terrestrial organisms. The log Koc value was calculated to be <1.25, demonstrating that isomaltulose greens has a very low potential for adsorption to soil and sediments. Isomaltulose greens will biodegrade rapidly in all environmental compartments.
