Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
The registration substance represents an UVCB mixture of EDTA metal complexes with cobalt, copper, iron, manganese and zinc, in which the exact composition can slightly vary. The two main components of the UVCB are EDTA complexes with iron and manganese.
To describe the aquatic toxicity two studies with a representative mixture of ‘EDTA metal complexes with cobalt, copper, iron, manganese and zinc’ are available. One study investigated the short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates [Toxikon Corporation, on behalf of Ciba, 1999] and the other study the short-term toxicity to fish [Toxikon Corporation, on behalf of Ciba 2000]. In both studies no effects on the test organisms were observed up to a concentration of 100 mg/L test item.
This confirms further studies with single components of the ‘UVCB EDTA metal complex’ (FeEDTANa, CAS 15708-41-5; MnEDTANa2, CAS 15375-84-5; ZnEDTANa2, CAS 14025-21-9; CuEDTANa2 CAS 14025-15-1; CoEDTANa2 CAS 15137-09-4). The tests with single EDTA metal complexes are available for short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates and fish as well as for long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates, toxicity to aquatic algae and toxicity to aquatic microorganisms. For long-term toxicity to fish no study with EDTA metal complexes is available. Nevertheless the endpoint long-term toxicity to fish can be covered by a read-across study on CaNa2EDTA (CAS 62-33-9).
In conclusion all available data show, that the registration substance (UVCB of EDTA metal complexes with cobalt copper iron manganese zinc complexes / Magnesium, CAS 234446-82-3) is with high probability acutely and chronically not harmful to aquatic organisms.
More details on the several EDTA metal complexes and the read across substance can be found in the read across justification. This document is attached to IUCLID section 13.
