The test substance is an aqueous solution in 40 % acetic acid. Basic Yellow 28 Acetate is only stable in presence of significant concentrations of free acetic acid; it can not be isolated as such. Therefore, the exact water solubility of Basic Yellow 28 Acetate cannot be determined.
The water solubility of Basic Yellow 28 as methyl sulfate at 20 °C was determined to be 8.8 g/L.
Basic Yellow 28 with the acetate counter-anion has a considerably higher solubility in acetic acid solution.
The common marketed product contains 40 % of Basic Yellow 28 Acetate, hence the solubility is higher than 400 g/L.
