- Deux jours après la dernière exposition, on a injecté aux souris 250 uL de solution saline tamponnée au phosphate (PBS) contenant 20 uCi de thymidine tritiée (d'après Amersham International, Amersham, Royaume-Uni). Cinq heures plus tard, les souris ont été tuées, les ganglions lymphatiques drainés ont été excisés et une suspension unicellulaire des échantillons de ganglions lymphatiques regroupés a été préparée.
La suspension cellulaire des ganglions lymphatiques a été lavée dans du PBS en excès, précipitée avec de l'acide trichloroacétique à 5% (TCA) à 4 ° C pendant 18 heures. Après remise en suspension dans du TCA, le comptage par scintillation β a été utilisé pour mesurer l'incorporation de tritium.
La méthode utilisée pour tuer les animaux n'a pas été rapportée.

Basketter et al.(1999) ont étudié le potentiel allergénique de 13 sels métalliques, y compris le chlorure d'aluminium hexahydraté (99% de pureté) dans le test des ganglions lymphatiques locaux (LLNA).
Des groupes de 4 souris CBA / Ca (âgées de 7 à 12 semaines) ont été traités avec 25 pi de substance ou avec un volume égal du véhicule seul, sur le dos des deux oreilles.Les souris ont été traitées une fois par jour pendant 3 jours. Deux jours plus tard, on a injecté aux souris 250 uL de solution saline tamponnée au phosphate (PBS) avec 20 uCi de thymidine tritiée (2 Ci mmol-1). Les souris ont été tuées 5 heures plus tard et une suspension unicellulaire de cellules ganglionnaires a été préparée par désagrégation mécanique. Une substance a été considérée comme un sensibilisant cutané, la prolifération dans les ganglions lymphatiques des souris traitées était 3 fois ou plus grande que celle dans les contrôles simultanés traités avec le véhicule. Le chlorure d'aluminium hexahydraté administré dans la vaseline (véhicule) à des concentrations d'essai de 5,0%, 10,0% et 25,0% n'a pas induit de réponse de prolifération des ganglions lymphatiques par rapport aux contrôles simultanés traités par véhicule, et donc la réponse a été jugée négative.
Les résultats de cette étude montrent un faible potentiel de sensibilisation des cations aluminium 3+.
