The biodegradability of D-menthol has been determined in Closed Bottle test (OECD 301D). The test fulfilled the conditions of validity given by the Guidelines and resulted at 21 days to a mean maximum biodegradability of 76%. Therefore, D-menthol is regarded to be readilty biodegradable. The result is very similar to those obtained on L-menthol following the same protocol. This reinforces the read-across approach in for all the other parameters.
