Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.13 (Pyrophoric Properties of Solids and Liquids)
GLP compliance:
no
Key result
Test procedure:
burning time (test type not further specified)
Remarks:
or specified in description of method (migrated information)
Burning time:
ca. 199 s
Key result
Test procedure:
ignition time on contact with air
Remarks:
Ignition on contact with air refers to either Pyrophoric solids or Pyrophoric liquids depending on physical state (migrated information).
Remarks on result:
no ignition on contact with air (not further specified)
Remarks:
.

Burning rate test:

As soon as the test flame has touched with substance, the decomposition has propagated with generating white smoke. But fire cannot be observed. the burning time of preliminary test has observed 3 minutes 19 seconds and the judgement time of 2 minutes has been over. Therefore, the substance has not been classified as a "Flammable solid".

Spontaneous combustion test:

The test substance has not ignited during dropping or within 5 minutes of settling.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Based on observations the substance is not classified as flammable based on GHS criteria.
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water

Description of key information

A Burning rate test and a spontaneous combustion test were performed and give negative results.
Experience in handling and use indicate that 2,2’-azobis(2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride is highly unlikely to be flammable in contact with water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable
