The test substance is an inorganic white crystalline solid or fused pieces, and is marketed as a component of a catalyst. The test substance has a melting point of 325°C, density of 2.28 g/cm3, and autoflammability temperature of >400°C. It is not an oxidiser and is not considered explosive. The pH of the test substance was 0.6 for a 1 M solution and 1.3 for a 0.1 M solution.

The acronyms H2SO4, Na2SO4, K2SO4, and (NH4)2SO4 are used to refer to the read-across substances sulphuric acid (CAS 7664-93-9), sodium sulphate (CAS 7757-82-6), potassium sulphate (CAS 7778-80-5), and ammonium sulphate (CAS 7783-20-2), respectively.
