Additional information

[3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl]urea is one of the four constituents of the multi-constituent substance, ureidopropyltrialkoxysilane, mixed methoxy and ethoxy esters (CAS 116912-64-2). It is closely related in structure to the other three constituents of the multi-constituent; [3- (trimethoxysilyl)propyl]urea, [3-(dimethoxyethoxysilyl)propyl]urea, and [3-(methoxydiethoxysilyl)propyl]urea. A flash point of 117°C at 100.9 kPa was determined for the multi-constituent substance in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol, and in compliance with GLP. The multi-constituent substance is not classified for flammability on the basis of the measured flash point of 117°C. Therefore, it is appropriate to conclude that [3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl]urea is also not flammable.

There is no indication on the basis of structure and experience in handling and use that the substance is pyrophoric (flammable in contact with air) or flammable in contact with water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification as flammable liquid according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification.

The available data on pyrophoricity and flammbility in contact with water of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification. Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use pyrophoricity and flammability in contact with water are not expected.
