Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

This substance is not readily biodegradable, but this substance did not remain. The remaining product is estimated as the hydrolysis product.
1st study: BOD 6% at 28 day.
2nd study(OECD TG 301C,GLP): BOD = 19%, TOC = 32%, HPLC = 100% at 28 day
3rd study (OECD TG 302C, GLP); BOD = 0%, TOC = 21%, HPLC = 100% at 28 day
The hydfrolysis product is 4-oxo-4-(phenylamino)isocrotonic acid (cas no: 555-59-9).
This hydrolysis product is estimated to be further hydrolysed in activated sludge into maleic acid and aniline depened by pH value which products are readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in freshwater:
3.01 h
at the temperature of:
25 °C
Half-life in freshwater sediment:
3 240 h
