Administrative data
First-aid measures
Description of first aid measures
· After inhalation: First aid measures not needed. Just move to fresh air.
· After skin contact: First aid measures not required, but wash exposed skin with soap and water for hygienic reasons.
· After eye contact: Rinse opened eye under running water.
· After swallowing: If a large quantity has been ingested or you feel unwell, get medical advice/attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media
· Suitable extinguishing agents: All types of extinguishing media are suitable. Use fire extinguishing methods suitable to surrounding conditions.
· For safety reasons unsuitable extinguishing agents: Water with full jet
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
In case of fire, the following can be released:
Carbon monoxide (CO)
Carbon dioxide (CO2)
Under certain fire conditions, traces of other toxic gases cannot be excluded, e.g.:
Allyl alcohol and acrolein.
Advice for firefighters
· Protective equipment: Fire-fighters should wear appropriate protective equipment and selfcontained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with a full face-piece operated in positive pressure mode.
Additional information Cool endangered receptacles with water spray.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Wear safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing and rubber boots for hygienic reasons.
Environmental precautions: Minimize the area spreading and cover the drains. Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
Small spill: Absorb with liquid-binding material (sand, diatomite, acid binders, universal binders). Pick up mechanically.
Large spill: Pump up the product into a spare container suitably labelled.
Clean the affected area carefully; suitable cleaners are:
warm water and cleansing agent
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling: Wear personal protective equipment according to the information given in the exposure controls section if risk of exposure.
· Information about fire - and explosion protection: Peroxides can be formed when stored in open, unsealed containers. Keep away from heat and direct sunlight. Avoid contact with air / oxygen (formation of peroxide).
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
· Storage:
· Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles: Store only in the original receptacle.
· Further information about storage conditions: Store in cool, dry conditions in well sealed receptacles.Avoid contact with air / oxygen (formation of peroxide). This product is hygroscopic.

Exposure controls / personal protection
1. Technical protection measures
Not required.
2. Organisational protection measures
The usual precautionary measures are to be adhered to when handling chemicals.
3. Hand protection
Protective gloves not really required. However, we recommend using protective gloves made of rubber (Butyl rubber, Chloroprene rubber, Nitrile rubber).
4. Feet protection / Body protection
Normal work clothes for the chemical industry (long legs and sleeves).
5. Eye protection
If handled where risk of splashed may occur, use safety goggles.
6. Respiratory protection
Not required.
Stability and reactivity
Reactivity: There exists no specific test data for this product. For further information, see the subsequent subsections of this chapter.
Chemical stability: In contact with air/oxygen the product will slowly form peroxides.
Possibility of hazardous reactions: Possible formation of peroxide. Formation of acrolein (very toxic) can occur in oxidative drying systems catalyzed by metal salts, for example alkyd paints.
Conditions to avoid: To avoid thermal decomposition do not overheat.
Incompatible materials: Not determined
Hazardous decomposition products: allylalcohol, acrolein
Disposal considerations
Waste treatment methods: The product is not classified as hazardous waste. Incinerate at a licensed installation.
European waste catalogue: 16 03 06 organic wastes other than those mentioned in 16 03 05
Uncleaned packaging: Thoroughly emptied and clean packaging may be recycled. Contaminated packaging materials must be disposed of in the same manner as the product.
Recommendation: Disposal must be made according to official regulations.
