Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
No exposure of soil is expected from handling and use of N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxypropyl) hexanediamide and thus, no hazards are required to be assessed. The substance is used solely in industrial processes for powder coating, technically required being water-free and applied under closed conditions. Thus, there is no exposure to the environment during use and no additional studies are required.
However, even in case of exceptional exposure such as in a major hazard incidence case, no risk is expected as for the surrogate substance N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl) hexanediamide absence of toxicity towards three plants (lepidum sativum, brassica rapa and avena sativa) was shown in an OECD 208 study with exposure of 100 mg/kg soil dw. No effects on seedling emergence and following growth has been found up to this concentration and thus, the NOEC for all three plants was 100 mg/kg soil dw.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Short-term EC50 or LC50 for terrestrial plants:
- 100 mg/kg soil dw
- Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for terrestrial plants:
- 100 mg/kg soil dw
Additional information
In accordance with Column 2 of REACH, Annexes IX the tests do not need to be conducted if direct and indirect exposure of the substance to soil is unlikely. Thus, no additional test was required for this endpoint.
From the read-across approach, no hazard effect to the seedling emergence and following growth of the three plants has been found up to the concentration of 100 mg/kg dw soil, and it was used as a supporting study.
