Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

- Endpoint:
- explosive properties of explosives
- Type of information:
- other: expert statement
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- November 27th, 2012 - April 7th, 2013
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: see 'Remark'
- Remarks:
- An expert statement has been issued in accordance with UN TDG-MTC Appendix 6 and EC A.14 and in compliance with the principles of GLP. In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the explosive properties study (required in 7.11) was not performed.

- Parameter:
- other: Explosive (not specified)
- Remarks on result:
- negative (not further specified)
- Interpretation of results:
- GHS criteria not met
- Conclusions:
- The UN acceptance procedure for Class 1 explosives or the EC A.14 explosivity test does not need to be applied due to the absence of structural alerts. Accelerator (PT 25E or PT 25E/2) has no explosive properties.
Reference
Expert Statement:
A test substance is considered explosive when it can react to produce very rapid increases in temperature or pressure.
The composition of the test substance is shown in Section 1.2. None of the components of the test substance does contain chemical groups which are associated with explosive properties. In conclusion, Accelerator (PT 25E or PT 25E/2) has no explosive properties.
Description of key information
Because the test substance does not contain
any chemically instable or highly energetic
groups associated with explosive properties,
it was concluded in a GLP expert statement
that the UN acceptance procedure for Class 1
explosives or the EC A.14 explosivity test
does not need to be applied. Testing does
not appear scientifically necessary.
Accelerator (PT 25E or PT 25E/2) has
no explosive properties.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Explosiveness:
- non explosive
Additional information
An expert statement rather than a full study was considered sufficient to cover this endpoint.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the available information, classification according to the CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 is not necessary.
