Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air if effects occur. Consult a physician.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate with flowing water immediately and continuously for
15 minutes. Consult medical personnel.
Emergency measure - Skin: Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes while removing contaminated clothing. Remove
residues with soap and water. Wash contaminated clothing
before reuse.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Consult a physician who will decide on need and method of
emptying the stomach. If lavage is performed, suggest
endotracheal and/or oesophageal control. Danger from lung
aspiration must be weighed against toxicity when considering
emptying the stomach.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Carbon dioxide, dry chemical. Foam. Avoid using water which
may be not effective in extinguishing fire.
Product arising from burning: NOx, BOx, HF, CO, CO2, H2O, Fluorine, Pentafluorobenzene.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Wear positive-pressure self-contained breathing equipment
and protective fire fighting clothing (including fire
fighting helmet, coat, trousers, boots and gloves).
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Cover and soak up with a suitable absorbent material.
Dispose of according to applicable regulations (The
substance should be neutralised with isopropanol. Incinerate
under controlled conditions in accordance with all local and
national laws and regulations. Do not dump into sewers, on
the ground, or into any body of water).
Contain and sweep up the material. Collect in suitable and
properly labelled containers.
To minimise exposure of workers during clean up the use of
industry vacuum cleaners is recommended.
Empty containers must be disposed of as hazardous waste
unless all remaining product adhering to the container walls
has been removed. Hazard warning labels can then be removed
from the container walls and the container sent for
recycling or disposal in accordance with local regulations.
Washing must be disposed of safely and in accordance with
local regulations. If the container is reconditioned, the
reconditioning company should be made aware of the nature of
the original contents. Glass bottles in sealed steel drums
with appropriate shock absorbent material.
Handling and storage
Handling: Only adequately trained personnel should handle this product
Practice care and caution to avoid skin and eye contact.
Storage: Store under an inert dry atmosphere such as nitrogen or
argon. Store in a cool, well ventilated area, away from
sources of ignition.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The preparation will be shipped in C-430 tanks, which are
208 cm x 107 cm x 122 cm, have a 2.71 cubic metric shipping
cube, a tare weight of 635 - 816 kg and hold 1465 L (ca.
90% full).
A C-430 full of the solution containing the substance will
therefore weigh roughly 1800 - 2100 kg.

Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: Should be stored under an inert atmosphere.
Incompatibility:
Alcohols, other protic solvents, strong oxidizing agents
such as chlorine.
Chemical reaction with water: See above.
Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: After use, the substance cannot be traced in the final
product as such, therefore cannot be recycled or recovered.
