Description of key information

In a read-across publication an aquatic toxicity test with 9 -octadecenoic acid sodium salt exposed to fish was reported. The LC50 (96 h) was found to be greater than 100 mg/L.

A publication is available in which the acute toxicity of the analogue substance (9-Octadecenoic Acid, sodium salt, CAS-Nr. 143 -19 -1). was determined for freshwater. Therefore, red killifish (Oryzias latipes) were exposed to several concentrations of the read across substance after acclimatization. The test followed a semi-static procedure with an exposure time of 96 h. As a result, a LC50 value of 217 mg/L in freshwater was determined.

Additionally, an acute aquatic toxicity test was conducted on fish to assess the LC50 (96 h) of 9 -octadecenoic acid sodium salt. The study was conducted in 2000 according to OECD guideline 203 and in compliance with GLP by the MOE (Ministry of the Environment in Japan). As a result, an LC50 of >100 mg/L was revealed.
