Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash thoroughly with water. If irritation occurs, seek
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash thoroughly with water. If irritation occurs, seek
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Wash out mouth thoroughly with water and give water to
drink. If a large amount swallowed, seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
together with soot and hydrogen chloride and, possibly,
some dioxin-like products. Water, carbon dioxide, foam and
dry powder are suitable extinguishing agents. Wear a
self-contained breathing apparatus if a large quantity of
substance is involved.
Accidental release measures
material for disposal by incineration.
Handling and storage
substance and add to the solution preparation tank under
well ventilated conditions.
Storage: Store in sealed drums.

Special provisions / remarks
- Remarks:
- Transport: No specific precautions. The substance is transported in
sealed fibre-board drums. Each drum contains 25 kg of MG 1
in a sealed polythene liner.

Stability and reactivity
Disposal considerations
be recovered by dissolving in a chlorinated solvent,
filtered and MG 1 precipitated out by addition of aliphatic
solvent.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The substance has no known hazardous effects and as result
neutralisation is not necessary.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a controlled landfill site is possible.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: This is the recommended method of disposal. Waste-gas
purification should be used as nitrogen oxides and hydrogen
chloride gas may be formed. Polychlorinated dioxins and
dibenzofurans may also be formed. However, incineration at
1200 deg C for a minimum of two seconds and a large excess
of air should be adequate to ensure complete combustion.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance is of low aquatic toxicity and is
biodegradable. However, disposal by this means is not
recommended.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Once incorporated in paper, recovery is not practicable.
Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not necessary
Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Paper containing the substance may be disposed of at an
authorised landfill.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Paper coated with the substance may be incinerated with
household refuse.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The amount of substance coated on paper is negligible.
Furthermore, the substance itself is of low toxicity to
fish and daphnia and is biodegradable.
