Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: No specific first aid measures are required because this
material is not expected to be harmful if inhaled. If
exposed to excessive levels of material in the air, move the
exposed person to fresh air. Get medical attention if
coughing or respiratory discomfort occurs.
Emergency measure - Eyes: No specific first aid measures are required because this
material is not expected to cause eye irritation. As a
precaution, remove contact lenses if worn, and flush eye
with water.
Emergency measure - Skin: No specific first aid measures are required because this
material is not expected to be harmful if it contacts the
skin. As a precaution, remove contaminated clothing and
shoes. Wash skin with soap and water. Wash or clean
contaminated clothing and shoes before reuse.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: No specific first aid measures are required because this
material is not expected to be harmful if swallowed. Do not
induce vomiting. As a precaution, give the person a glass
of water or milk to drink and get medical advice. Never
give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: The substance does not catch fire or form a flame (See Annex
16).
Product arising from burning: No data available
Product determined by test: Y
Protective equipment: For fires involving this material, do not enter any enclosed
or confined fire space without proper protective equipment,
including self-contained breathing apparatus.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions in
handling section. Sweep up material and place in a disposal
container.
Handling and storage
Handling: BBP3 is handled and stored in a suitable sealed tote vessel
such that all the content is kept isolated from the outside
environment and thus preventing employee exposure. (see
Annex 14b). However, explosion venting and/or other
protection devices should be installed in areas where the
materials are utilized or stored to prevent injury to
personnel and damage to equipment.
Also, if user operations generate airborne material, use
process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other
engineering controls to control exposure.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Eye/face protection: No eye protection is normally required.
skin protection: No protective clothing is normally
required.
Respiratory protection: No respiratory protection is
normally required.
Storage: BBP3 is stored in a suitable sealed tote vessel such that
all the content is kept isolated from the outside
environment and thus preventing employee exposure. (see
Annex 14b). However, explosion venting and/or other
protection devices should be installed in areas where the
materials are utilized or stored to prevent injury to
personnel and damage to equipment.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: BBP3 is not imported or sold in the EU.
Masterbatch (MB) containing 2% BBP3 is received by the
customer in sealed foil bags, unloaded, and stored until
needed for film processing. When needed, MB is transferred
from storage to a hopper where appropriate quantities are
weighed and transferred under vacuum to a blending vessel.

Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: Hazardous decomposition products:
No decomposition
Chemical stability:
Stable
Conditions to avoid:
Avoid contact with strong oxidants
Incompatibility with other materials:
May react with strong acids or strong oxidizing agents, such
as chlorates, nitrates, peroxides, etc.
Hazardous polymerization :
Polymerization will not occur
Hazardous decomposition products:
Thermal decomposition may produce carbon monoxide and carbon
dioxide
Chemical reaction with water: No ignitable gases were observed while placing flame over
wet BBP3 powder contacting water (see Annex 16).
Dust explosion: Dust explosibility testing of BBP3 showed ignition and
explosion hazards. (see annex 14)
As a result, handling and storing of BBP3 should use a
suitable tote vessel such that all the content is kept
isolated from the outside environment and thus preventing
employee exposure. (se Annex 14b). Also, explosion venting
and/or other protection devices should be installed in areas
where the materials are utilized or stored to prevent injury
to personnel and damage to equipment.
